Meet Don Murphy ; a proud Irish man, a hopeless ketamine addict and one of his generation’s greatest actors. He also happens to be a chicken. A Kerry cock, to be exact. Across one fateful night, the feathered Oscar winner shares his star-studded life story with an intimate audience: from moving to New York to getting his big break, having his first bird-on-bird sexual experience, and attempting to navigate life in the celebrity spotlight. Along the way, Don will be confronted with some harsh truths about himself, chicken kind and human kind.

Cast

Hildegard Ryan is an award-winning Irish writer and performer based in London. Chicken, co-written with and directed by long-time collaborator Hildegard Ryan, was performed by Eva at Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2023 where it won a Lustrum Award. Eva also received The Filipa Bragança Award for best solo performance by an emerging artist.

Joan Sheehy Writer and director, Hildegard graduated from the Central Film School with a distinction in Practical Filmmaking. Her graduation film “The 25th Annual, St Wallace on Sea, Morris Dancing Festival” was selected for the Cannes Film Festival short film corner.

Hildegard has collaborated with Eva O’Connor through their theatre company Sunday’s Child since 2013 on a number of Award winning productions, as a director for My Name is Saoirse, Overshadowed and Mustard, and as a co-writer and director on Afloat, The Friday Night Effect and most recently Chicken.
