About the Fit-up
The Fit-up Theatre Festival series began with the West Cork Fit-up in the summer of 2009 and tours theatre for four weeks annualy. 2016 marked the inaugural Blackwater Valley Fit-up Theatre Festival which is now a three week event which takes place in late January and early February. 2017 saw the introduction of the West Waterford Fit-up Theatre Festival which tours during May.
The core essence of the Fit-up Theatre Festival nods to the tradition of Fit-up theatre of the 1950s, when professional companies travelled the length and breadth of Ireland reaching a wide variety of towns, villages and rural areas bringing all members of the community together through the act of theatre.
